Question 1

How do I crop a Steam profile background?

Accepted Answer

Load a background from the catalog or paste a Steam CDN image URL, then Export ZIP. Upload the PNGs to an Artwork showcase on your profile (Steam level 10+).

Question 2

What link should I paste?

Accepted Answer

Only a direct Steam CDN image URL works (steamstatic.com) — not a Market or Store page. Easiest: open a background in our catalog and click Crop.

Question 3

What sizes does the ZIP include?

Accepted Answer

Featured (630px), Middle (506px), and Right (100px) PNGs for Steam Artwork showcases, plus optional Avatar.png and a short Read_Me.

Question 4

Featured or Middle + Right?

Accepted Answer

Use Featured alone in a featured artwork slot, or Middle and Right together in a normal artwork showcase.

Question 5

How do I upload long artwork to Steam?

Accepted Answer

On the Steam artwork upload page, your PNG may appear as a thin black line — that is normal. Open the browser console (F12), paste $J('#image_width').val(1000).attr('id',''),$J('#image_height').val(1).attr('id','');, then submit. Question 6

Does it work with animated backgrounds?

Accepted Answer

Yes — animated catalog items play in the preview when available. Export still uses a static PNG frame, since Steam artwork uploads are images.
